Sterling Silver Fox and Forest Studs by Joannarutter (and Etsy lists in £s!)

It's finally happened! Handmade supermarket Etsy.com has finally started to list its products in pounds as well as dollars. This can only mean bad things for my bank account, but imagine the time you'll save without constantly checking the exchange rates.

Browsing this morning, I came across these tiny fox and forest stud earrings from Joannerutter. These charming little cutouts remind me of the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. Who doesn't love a silver fox, eh?

According to the new listing, it'll set you back £32.30.

Etsy find: Kitsch necklaces by PenelopesPorch

Bling and Buy has been a bit of a mixture of kooky, expensive and classic pieces recently, so I think it's about time we revisited an old favourite: Kitsch.

This Tiny Pearl Ring in a Gift Box Necklace ($16) is from Etsy seller PenelopesPorch. The delicate little ring is adorned with a sizeable pearl, and wrapped up in faux wrapping paper and a bowed polka dot box. The whole charm hangs off a blue bead necklace, although you can have the colour of the chain changed.

It's the box that initially drew me into this design, which is reminiscent of a luxury box of chocolates. A further browse of the shop revealed this mini retro toaster and pop tart necklace ($14.50) below.

Like most of the Etsy sellers, PenelopesPorch is based in the USA (California), but postage is really affordable at $3.50.

Miniature food donut rings by YourSweetTreat

You know what's better than a bit of bling-based eyecandy? A bit of candy-inspired bling.

These doughnut rings from YourSweetTreat are miniature life-like versions of Homer Simpson's favourite. They come as a set of two, so you can either wear both, or treat a much-loved friend to the second.

I'd totally be greedy and keep both though.

Untamed Menagerie's Handmade silhouette jewellery

I have a big, fat crush.

Usually, I only feature one or two pieces from a designer on Bling and Buy. But I really, really struggled to choose one favourite piece from Etsy seller Untamed Menagerie. The collection is created by mother and daughter team Penny and Nikki, and they focus on nature and vintage-inspired whimsical themes. Their imagination shines through in their handmade, beautifully cut pieces.

White Feather Brooch from AlrightDarling

Sometimes, it's the really simple designs that can grab your attention away from the more glitzier items. Whilst browsing the UK section of Etsy, I came across designer AlrightDarling (possibly the most british name ever) who offered a selection of clean cut white brooches and rings.

This feather brooch above is created from a clean resin material, and its simple design gives you the flexibility to pin it to whichever outfit you choose to wear. The actual design is exclusive to the AlrightDarling too, so you won't find it all over the high street either.

It's yours for $12, complete with gift wrapping.

Black Flowered Lacy Necklace by MyMom at Etsy

I like the idea of challenging the usual ideas of acceptable materials for jewellery. I've seen some lovely acrylic pieces recently, and shrink plastic is a fun look too (check out FunkyJunkJewellery's recent collection for a good example of this)

This lace necklace ($26) from Etsy designer MyMom is definitely not the most obvious material , but it has a luxurious feel, and would look lovely over the collar of a white t-shirt or as it's worn above with a strapless top.

Charms4u necklaces and charms

Charms4you boasts the claim that they have the largest selection of sterling silver charms on Etsy. After browsing through the hundreds of intricate charms hanging on a simple chain, I'd have to agree.

The choice is overwhelming and there are so many pieces I love. The On/Off light switch on the right is $18. I've never seen anything like it and I like it would be perfect for any teenagers whose moods tend to match the charm's theme!


The Box of Chocolates charm is $15 and a great little stocking filler for any chocoholics in your life. All the charms come in a pretty giftbox too.

Whimsical Treasures: Alice. A petite gold chair necklace.

Delicate and whimsical necklaces are popping up all over the place at the moment, yet another thing we should thank the rather gorgeous Johnny Depp for. Well, Johnny Depp and the cast of Alice in Wonderland, the new version which is set to be released in cinemas in March 2010. Looks like the cupcake trend might be on the way out *sob* and anything magical, very British, vintage looking teapots, and basically Alice in Wonderland themed are on their way in.

So I was delighted to see this miniature gold chair necklace from Etsy seller Whimsical Treasures. Priced at $21, the tiny golden 3D chair charm hangs from a gold chain. I'm pretty sure wearing it would make me feel like Alice after knocking back some Drink Me potion.

PunkyJane: Facebook necklace for yummy mummies

My Etsy newsletter popped up in my inbox yesterday and alerted me to the seller PunkyJane, who features a range of silver jewellery with personalised messages.

Amongst the sweet engraved necklaces for mums, dads and entire families was this facebook necklace that made me giggle for quite a while. I know a few yummy mummies who will appreciate the sentiment as much as they love a quick break on Farmville.

The necklace is $30 and available on a couple of different length chains.

Arty Farty Gingerbread Man Brooch

I'm having a little bit of a love affair at the moment with pins and brooches. It always seems to surface this time of year when I dig out my coat and look at those lapels, which are crying out for some funky little detail to catch the eye. This Gingerbread Man Brooch by Etsy seller Tuckshop definitely fits the definition of eye catching.

It also ensures I have the soundtrack to Shrek stuck in my head all day. It's $14, and comes in a couple of similar styles for a necklace. Tuckshop is also home to some delicious looking jewellery including a pair of egg and bacon earrings and sushi pin brooch.
